What’s your favorite use for #sourdoughdiscard ?This week’s loaf has some wild rice on it. “Real” wild rice, hand-harvested and parched by a friend of a friend in northern Minnesota, is such a precious commodity that I had to make sure it wasn’t wasted when we didn’t eat it all with dinner. Wild rice is an interesting plant, a food that is foraged but also managed by the people who forage for it. Most wild rice available in stores is actually a cultivated variety that is machine harvested. Our annual Farm Tour & Tea is cancelled for 2019 due to an extremely wet planting season (we expect that some things might not be planted by the last week in June). We hope to host a potluck party on the farm later in the season instead. As soon as we have set a date, we’ll let you know here and via social media.
